VinFast Introduces Incentives to Accelerate Dealer Expansion

Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is offering financial incentives of up to $60,000 per new electric motorcycle dealership in the Philippines and Indonesia as it seeks to expand its Southeast Asian distribution network before the end of 2026.

Announced on October 13, the program provides financial assistance to dealer partners that establish qualifying outlets by December 31. The initiative is intended to attract local businesses and accelerate the availability of VinFast electric motorcycles in two major regional markets.

Each eligible dealership can receive basic support of up to $40,000, depending on the outlet’s size, floor area and compliance with the company’s dealership standards.

Dealers opening their outlets by October 31 can qualify for an additional $5,000 per location. Businesses establishing at least three dealerships may receive another $15,000 per location, bringing the maximum potential incentive to $60,000 for each qualifying outlet.

The program links financial support to both dealership development and the pace of network expansion, encouraging partners to establish multiple locations within the designated period.

Company Targets Hundreds of Dealerships by Year-End

VinFast had a combined 63 electric motorcycle dealerships across the Philippines and Indonesia as of September 2026. The company plans to expand that network to hundreds of outlets in both markets by the end of December.

The expansion reflects its effort to build a stronger distribution and service presence beyond Vietnam. Establishing more physical locations could improve product accessibility while providing customers with more convenient access to sales, maintenance and after-sales support.

In the Philippines, VinFast has continued adding retail and service locations, including a dealership in Pasay City. Its broader expansion strategy also includes Indonesia, where the company aims to increase the availability of its electric two-wheelers.

The incentive program is designed to attract local business partners that can help establish and operate outlets while supporting the company’s longer-term regional ambitions.

Business Support Extends Beyond Financial Assistance

VinFast’s offer includes operational assistance intended to help dealer partners meet its requirements and establish sustainable businesses.

Support will cover business planning, marketing, staff training, store design, daily operations and customer service. Dealers will also have access to the company’s service and warranty network, including support for workshops handling motorcycle maintenance and repairs.

Vo Thi Cam Tu, managing director of VinFast E-Motorcycle Overseas Markets, said the company aims to build long-term relationships with businesses that can support its international electric motorcycle distribution strategy.

She described network expansion as an important component of developing an electric motorcycle ecosystem in overseas markets and said VinFast would work with partners from outlet construction through daily operations and customer service.

The combination of financial incentives and operational support could reduce some of the initial challenges involved in establishing new dealerships, although the program’s eventual reach will depend on partner participation and compliance with the company’s requirements.

Battery Swapping Forms Part of the Product Strategy

Participating dealerships will initially offer three electric motorcycle models: the Evo, Feliz II and Viper. All three support battery swapping, allowing riders to exchange depleted batteries for charged units rather than waiting for their motorcycles to recharge.

The technology is a central feature of VinFast’s electric motorcycle offering as it expands into markets where motorcycles are an important form of transportation.

Battery swapping can reduce the time riders spend waiting for a charge, but its practical benefits depend on the availability and accessibility of battery-exchange infrastructure. Expanding the dealership network therefore provides a potential foundation for improving product distribution and supporting customers after purchase.

The company’s emphasis on service access, warranty support and dealer training also indicates that network development involves more than increasing the number of sales outlets.

What Investors and Industry Observers Should Watch Next

The immediate milestone is the October 31 deadline for the additional early-opening incentive, followed by the overall December 31 deadline for qualifying dealerships. The number of businesses that participate will help indicate whether the financial package can accelerate VinFast’s expansion at the pace it has targeted.

Progress toward hundreds of outlets across the Philippines and Indonesia will also provide a measure of the company’s ability to build a regional distribution and service network. The effectiveness of its battery-swapping proposition will depend partly on whether customers can access the necessary infrastructure and reliable after-sales support.

More broadly, VinFast’s strategy highlights the importance of local partnerships in expanding electric mobility across Southeast Asia. Converting dealership growth into sustained sales will depend on execution, product demand and the company’s ability to support customers beyond the initial purchase.
