Moderna Raises Full-Year Revenue Expectations

Moderna increased its full-year 2026 revenue growth forecast after stronger international demand for its COVID-19 vaccine and payments from commercial partnerships supported its third-quarter performance.

The biotechnology company now expects total revenue to grow between 15% and 25% in 2026, raising its previous outlook of up to 10% growth. The improved forecast reflects stronger overseas vaccine demand and a contribution from partnership-related payments, which helped the company return to profitability during the quarter.

Moderna shares gained more than 10% following the announcement, adding to a strong performance this year as investors increasingly focus on developments across its cancer vaccine pipeline.

Personalized Melanoma Vaccine Drives Investor Attention

Beyond its near-term financial performance, Moderna’s oncology program remains a major focus for investors. Its personalized cancer vaccine candidate, intismeran autogene, developed in collaboration with Merck, has generated encouraging late-stage clinical results.

Detailed data released last month showed that the vaccine, when combined with Merck’s Keytruda, reduced the risk of melanoma recurrence or death by 42%.

Moderna said it is working toward submitting the US marketing application for intismeran autogene before the end of the year. The companies are targeting a commercial launch in 2027.

The latest revenue outlook provides additional support for the company’s financial performance as investors assess the potential commercial opportunities associated with its oncology pipeline.

Norovirus Vaccine Development Plans Adjusted

Moderna also announced a change to its experimental norovirus vaccine program. The company will not proceed with an additional study cohort during the current season, reversing earlier plans to expand the clinical trial.

The decision followed an interim analysis that failed to meet the statistical threshold for early success. The adjustment indicates a more selective approach to further development of the candidate.

The decision also reflects the company’s focus on managing research and development spending while prioritizing programs with stronger clinical prospects.

Revenue Growth and Pipeline Execution

Moderna’s improved revenue forecast marks a stronger near-term outlook, supported by international COVID-19 vaccine demand and partnership contributions. However, the company’s longer-term investment narrative remains closely linked to its ability to advance its oncology pipeline.

The melanoma vaccine program represents an important potential commercial opportunity, with the planned US regulatory submission and targeted 2027 launch serving as key milestones.

Investors will also be watching how Moderna allocates research and development resources following the decision to discontinue plans for an additional norovirus study cohort.

What Investors Should Watch Next

The next important developments for Moderna include progress toward the planned US marketing application for intismeran autogene, the potential timing of its commercial launch, and the sustainability of international COVID-19 vaccine demand.

The revised 2026 revenue forecast provides a stronger near-term financial outlook, but the company’s longer-term prospects will depend in part on clinical and regulatory progress across its pipeline. Its decisions on research investment and development priorities will also remain relevant as it balances commercial performance with future growth opportunities.
