Meta Platforms is entering the final part of the week with renewed investor attention on its artificial-intelligence strategy, as the rapid adoption of its Muse AI assistant strengthens the argument that AI could become a larger revenue contributor beyond the company’s core advertising business. The stock closed around $742 on Tuesday, after gaining 1.9% on Monday, while the broader technology market continued to trade near record levels.

Muse Changes the AI Narrative for Meta

The significance of Muse extends beyond another product launch. The AI assistant is designed to perform tasks for users rather than simply answer questions, creating a potential bridge between Meta’s enormous consumer ecosystem and a new generation of agentic AI services. Muse has already surpassed 3 million weekly users who send at least one prompt, providing an early indication that consumer engagement could develop faster than initially expected.

For investors, the strategic importance is that Meta could eventually monetize AI through subscriptions, commerce, advertising and other services while continuing to benefit from its established social-media platforms. That possibility has strengthened expectations that AI may complement, rather than replace, the company’s highly profitable advertising model.

Why the $1,000 Target Matters

Wells Fargo’s decision to lift its Meta price target from $796 to $1,000 represents a significant change in the market’s assessment of the company’s long-term AI opportunity. At recent prices near $742, the target implies approximately 35% potential appreciation, although such targets remain dependent on execution and changing market assumptions.

The more important signal is not the numerical target itself, but the shift in expectations surrounding Meta’s product cycle. Stronger-than-anticipated adoption of Muse could create a new growth narrative for a company whose valuation has historically been driven heavily by advertising performance, user engagement and operating efficiency.

Higher AI Spending Creates a Longer Payoff Horizon

The outlook is not without significant pressure points. Meta is expected to increase infrastructure and operating spending substantially as it expands AI computing capacity, while the financial contribution from Muse may remain limited in the near term. Estimates calling for 2027 operating expenses of roughly $210 billion to $215 billion illustrate how aggressively the company may need to invest before AI monetization becomes material.

This creates a potentially uneven earnings trajectory. Investors could face a period in which costs rise faster than revenue from new AI products, leaving the stock sensitive to changes in interest rates, technology valuations and expectations for future cash flows. Competition from other AI platforms, regulatory scrutiny and the ability to convert user engagement into recurring revenue also remain important risks.

The outlook therefore depends increasingly on whether Muse can translate rapid adoption into sustainable economics. The next major indicators will include user retention, paid conversion, advertising and commerce integration, as well as Meta’s capital-spending plans and management guidance. For Israeli and global investors with exposure to large-cap technology through equities or ETFs, Meta illustrates the broader market question surrounding AI: whether extraordinary infrastructure spending today can generate sufficiently durable revenue growth tomorrow.
