An Amazon Prime Air cargo aircraft overran a runway at Miami International Airport on September 6, killing at least five people and injuring five others. Amazon Cargo Plane Overruns Miami Runway

The aircraft was a Boeing 767-300 cargo plane operating as Prime Air Flight 7598 and operated by 21 Air on behalf of Amazon. The flight had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, before attempting to land at Miami International Airport at around 2 p.m. local time.

The aircraft overran the runway after landing and struck multiple vehicles before coming to a stop. A fire broke out following the accident, while emergency crews responded with more than 60 units and approximately 200 personnel. The pilot and co-pilot were initially trapped inside the aircraft, while people in vehicles on the ground were also affected.

Authorities reported at least five fatalities and five injuries, with three of the injured people in critical condition. The victims had not been publicly identified at the time of the initial investigation. The cause of the runway overrun has not been established, and investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
