T. Rowe Price has agreed to acquire F/m Investments as large asset managers continue expanding their presence in exchange-traded funds, particularly in fixed income. The deal reflects a broader industry shift as investors increasingly seek diversified, transparent, and cost-efficient investment vehicles amid changing market conditions.

Acquisition Expands T. Rowe Price’s Fixed-Income ETF Footprint

The acquisition of F/m Investments will significantly increase T. Rowe Price’s assets managed through fixed-income ETFs. F/m currently oversees approximately $19 billion in assets, including more than $10 billion invested across 20 ETFs, according to the companies.

For T. Rowe Price, the transaction represents an opportunity to accelerate growth in a segment where asset managers have been competing aggressively. Fixed-income ETFs have gained popularity as investors look for greater liquidity, transparency, and flexibility in managing bond exposure.

ETF Industry Consolidation Accelerates

The agreement comes amid a broader wave of consolidation among ETF providers. Earlier in August, Goldman Sachs announced its acquisition of Neos Investments in a deal valued at as much as $2.25 billion, following its earlier purchase of Innovator Capital.

The activity reflects a strategic push by major financial institutions to strengthen their ETF platforms and capture demand in a market segment that has expanded rapidly over recent years. Asset managers are increasingly seeking specialized ETF capabilities rather than building entire product platforms internally.

Fixed Income Becomes a Strategic Growth Area

The acquisition highlights the growing importance of fixed-income products within the asset management industry. Following years of shifting interest-rate expectations and changing bond market dynamics, investors have increasingly focused on tools that provide efficient access to different segments of the fixed-income market.

F/m Investments’ existing ETF platform provides T. Rowe Price with additional scale and product diversification. The transaction may also allow the firm to broaden its distribution capabilities as competition intensifies among global asset managers.

Asset Managers Focus on Long-Term ETF Expansion

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. According to F/m Investments CEO Alexander Morris, the firm received multiple expressions of interest before reaching an agreement with T. Rowe Price, reflecting wider industry interest in specialized ETF businesses.

Going forward, investors will monitor how the acquisition affects T. Rowe Price’s ETF strategy, product expansion, and competitive position within global asset management. The continued growth of fixed-income ETFs, along with further consolidation among providers, is expected to remain an important trend shaping the financial products landscape.
