Key Points
- The Tel Aviv-35 rose 0.35% to 4,140.90 points, while the Tel Aviv-90 gained 0.71% and the Tel Aviv-125 advanced 0.41%.
- Market breadth improved significantly, with 75 advancing securities in the TA-125 against 49 decliners, following the broad sell-off on August 24.
- Bond markets also strengthened, led by a 0.07% gain in the All-Bond General Index and a 0.15% rise in Tel Bond-Adjoined A.
The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed August 25 with a broad recovery across major equity benchmarks, following the sharp decline recorded in the previous session. Gains were visible across large- and mid-cap equities, while fixed-income markets also moved higher. Stock-market turnover increased to approximately NIS 3.37 billion, while bond-market turnover reached approximately NIS 4.04 billion.
Major Equity Indexes Recover
The Tel Aviv-35 advanced 0.35% to 4,140.90 points. Nineteen securities increased while 17 declined, with no unchanged securities recorded. The relatively balanced breadth reflects a modest recovery after the benchmark fell 1.09% on August 24.
The Tel Aviv-90 delivered a stronger rebound, rising 0.71% to 3,685.63 points. Fifty-six securities advanced compared with 32 decliners and two unchanged securities. The performance indicates that buying interest extended beyond the largest companies into the broader mid-cap segment.
The Tel Aviv 90 and Banks Index gained 0.67% to 3,935.96 points. Sixty-one securities advanced, while 32 declined and two remained unchanged. The positive performance suggests improved sentiment across both the broader TA-90 universe and banking-related shares.
The Tel Aviv-125 increased 0.41% to 4,031.59 points. Market breadth was clearly positive, with 75 advancing securities against 49 decliners and two unchanged. This represented a notable improvement from the previous session, when the index recorded 77 declines compared with only 42 advances.
Value and Sector Stocks Strengthen
The Tel Aviv-125 Value Index gained 0.64% to 4,184.84 points, outperforming the broader TA-125. Thirty-six securities advanced against 18 decliners and two unchanged securities. The move indicates stronger demand for value-oriented shares during the rebound.
The Tel Aviv Sector-Balance Index also advanced, gaining 0.34% to 4,614.41 points. Fifty-seven securities increased while 43 declined, with no unchanged securities. The positive breadth suggests that the recovery was relatively broad rather than concentrated in a small number of constituents.
The improvement across these benchmarks follows the weakness recorded on August 24 and points to a partial restoration of risk appetite in the equity market.
Bond Market Extends Its Gains
Fixed-income markets also finished higher. The Short-Term Bond Index rose 0.01% to 478.15 points, with 59 securities advancing, 30 declining and 46 unchanged.
The All-Bond General Index increased 0.07% to 432.72 points. Market breadth was strongly positive, with 410 securities advancing against 150 decliners and 55 unchanged. Tel Bond-Adjoined A gained 0.15% to 439.54 points, with 73 advances compared with only three declines.
The Tel Bond 60 Adjacent Index also rose 0.08% to 428.93 points. Fifty-two securities advanced, four declined and four remained unchanged. The synchronized gains across several fixed-income benchmarks indicate that the day’s improved market tone extended beyond equities.
Market Outlook
The August 25 rebound provides an early indication that the previous session’s selling pressure has not yet developed into a sustained downward move. Going forward, market breadth, trading turnover and the ability of the TA-35 and TA-125 to maintain their recovery will remain important indicators. Continued strength in mid-cap and value shares could reinforce the rebound, while renewed weakness across a broad group of securities would signal that volatility remains elevated. Bond-market performance will also be important to monitor as investors assess the durability of the broader improvement in market sentiment.
