Nvidia has revealed a significant investment position in Elon Musk’s SpaceX, highlighting the expanding connection between artificial intelligence infrastructure and next-generation technology platforms. The disclosure comes as Nvidia continues to strengthen its position across the AI ecosystem, while SpaceX accelerates its own AI capabilities following its public market debut.

Nvidia Reveals Major SpaceX Investment Position

Nvidia disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that its stake in SpaceX was worth approximately $21 billion at the end of the second quarter. The chipmaker owns 122.8 million Class A shares in SpaceX, which completed its public market debut in June.

Since the end of the second quarter, SpaceX shares have experienced volatility. The company’s stock closed at $140, compared with $170.86 at the end of June, reducing the estimated value of Nvidia’s holding to approximately $17.2 billion based on the latest share price.

The investment represents one of Nvidia’s largest strategic holdings. It ranks as the company’s second-largest disclosed investment position behind its stake in Intel, demonstrating Nvidia’s broader approach of investing in companies connected to critical technology infrastructure.

AI Infrastructure Expands Beyond Traditional Semiconductor Markets

Nvidia’s SpaceX exposure originated through the company’s investment in Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence venture xAI. Nvidia participated in xAI’s $10 billion investment as part of a larger $20 billion funding round in January, before SpaceX acquired xAI in February in a transaction reportedly valued at $1.25 trillion.

The investment illustrates how leading technology companies are increasingly forming interconnected ecosystems around artificial intelligence. Nvidia has become a central supplier of AI computing power, while companies such as SpaceX are integrating AI into data centers, autonomous systems and advanced technological operations.

For Nvidia, strategic investments provide exposure to companies that may become major users of AI computing infrastructure. For SpaceX, access to Nvidia technology supports its efforts to expand computing capabilities and develop advanced AI applications.

SpaceX Strengthens Partnership With Nvidia AI Technology

The relationship between the two companies extends beyond financial investment. During SpaceX’s second-quarter earnings call, Elon Musk said the company would exclusively use Nvidia’s AI chips in its data centers and to support its AI frontier models.

Musk said Nvidia’s graphics processing units offer leading architecture for AI training and inference, and indicated that SpaceX expects to receive a significant allocation of Nvidia’s Vera Rubin GPUs in the following year.

The partnership reflects the increasing importance of computing capacity in the AI sector. As companies develop larger and more complex AI models, access to advanced chips and data-center infrastructure has become a key competitive factor.

Investors Monitor Nvidia’s Expanding Technology Footprint

Nvidia’s investment strategy demonstrates how the company is positioning itself within a broader technology ecosystem rather than operating solely as a semiconductor supplier. Its holdings in major technology companies provide additional exposure to industries benefiting from AI adoption.

However, the growing connection between AI companies, infrastructure providers and capital markets also introduces new valuation considerations. Technology investments linked to AI remain sensitive to market expectations, spending cycles and future demand growth.

Looking ahead, investors will monitor Nvidia’s strategic investments, SpaceX’s market performance, AI infrastructure demand and the development of new computing technologies. The partnership between Nvidia and SpaceX highlights a broader trend in which artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly integrated across industries ranging from software and cloud computing to aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
