- Euronext 100 and CAC 40 declined 1.10% and 0.95%, respectively, while all six major equity indexes moved lower.

European markets extended their declines on October 8, with all major equity benchmarks and both listed currency indexes moving lower. The EURO STOXX 50 recorded the largest decline, falling 1.20% to 6,106.11, while the Euronext 100 dropped 1.10% to 1,837.08.
The CAC 40 declined 0.95% to 7,695.39, followed by the DAX, which fell 0.73% to 24,922.05. The MSCI Europe lost 0.68% to 2,670.71, while the FTSE 100 declined 0.54% to 10,402.37.
The broad declines marked another weaker session for European equities following the losses recorded across the region on October 7.
Major European Equity Benchmarks Retreat
Selling pressure remained broad across European equity markets, with all six major benchmarks recording losses.
The EURO STOXX 50 posted the sharpest decline at 1.20%, bringing the index to 6,106.11. The Euronext 100 followed with a 1.10% decline, while the CAC 40 fell 0.95%.
The DAX and MSCI Europe declined 0.73% and 0.68%, respectively, while the FTSE 100 recorded the smallest loss among the major benchmarks at 0.54%. The uniform direction across the indexes points to a broadly weaker session rather than isolated weakness in individual markets.
European Currencies Also Decline
European currency indexes also weakened on October 8. The PHLX Euro fell 0.56% to 111.95, while the PHLX British Pound declined 0.43% to 132.13.
The simultaneous declines in both currency indexes and equity benchmarks left the European market broadly lower across all of the indicators supplied for the session.
Outlook
European markets enter the next session following another broad decline, with losses accelerating across several major benchmarks compared with October 7. The EURO STOXX 50 and Euronext 100 recorded the largest percentage declines, while the FTSE 100 posted the smallest equity-market loss.
Investors will watch whether the recent weakness continues or whether European equities find stability after two consecutive sessions of broad declines.
