- Tel Aviv-90 advanced 0.56% to 3,461.52, with 52 advancing securities compared with 36 decliners.

Tel Aviv Market Finds Some Stability
The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed October 8 with a mixed session, as the broader market showed signs of stabilization following two consecutive sessions of heavy losses. Tel Aviv-35 slipped 0.16% to 4,089.94, while Tel Aviv-125 edged 0.04% higher to 3,934.01. The Tel Aviv-90 gained 0.56% to 3,461.52.
The session marked a notable change in market breadth after the widespread selling recorded on October 7. Although the leading blue-chip index remained slightly negative, broader equity segments generally moved higher.
Broader Indices Recover as Breadth Improves
The improvement was particularly visible in the Tel Aviv-90, where 52 securities advanced compared with 36 decliners. The Tel Aviv-125 also showed positive breadth, with 74 advancing securities against 50 declining securities.
The Tel Aviv-200 gained 0.31%, with 107 advancers and 88 decliners. The Tel Aviv Sector-Balance index advanced 0.44%, while the Tel Aviv 90 and banks index rose 0.44%.
The Tel Aviv-20 increased 0.12%, providing further evidence that several market segments were able to stabilize following the sharp declines of the previous sessions.
The main exception was the Tel Aviv-SME60, which declined 0.71% to 1,210.59. Its breadth was also negative, with 24 advancing securities compared with 34 decliners, indicating that smaller companies continued to face pressure even as broader indices recovered.
Turnover Remains Elevated
Trading activity remained substantial, with stock turnover reaching approximately NIS 4.83 billion and bond turnover totaling approximately NIS 5.42 billion.
The Tel Aviv-125 generated approximately NIS 3.36 billion in turnover, while the Tel Aviv-200 recorded approximately NIS 3.56 billion. Tel Aviv-35 turnover reached approximately NIS 2.40 billion, and the Tel Aviv Sector-Balance index recorded approximately NIS 3.15 billion.
The relatively high turnover alongside improving market breadth suggests that the stabilization occurred with active participation rather than during a low-volume session. This could make subsequent trading sessions important for determining whether the rebound can develop into a more sustained recovery.
Sharp Individual Stock Moves Continue
Individual stocks continued to show significant volatility. The source data identifies a notable gainer listed as “In the genus,” which rose 5.14% to 200.6. Amram was the notable decliner, falling 5.87% to 3,450.
The divergence among individual securities remained significant even though the broader market was more stable. The continued movement in individual stocks suggests that company-specific factors remained important alongside the broader market trend.
Looking ahead, investors will be watching whether the improved breadth in the TA-90 and TA-125 continues after the sharp declines earlier in the week. The TA-35 remains just below 4,100, while the TA-125 is near 3,934 and the TA-90 is around 3,462. A continued improvement in market breadth and sustained turnover could support further stabilization, while renewed weakness in the major indices or continued pressure on smaller companies would suggest that the recent selloff has not fully run its course.
