Key Points

  • Nscale is telling prospective investors it has approximately $103 billion in total contracted revenue ahead of a potential IPO as early as September.
  • The figure has roughly doubled from $51 billion after a $45 billion, six-year computing agreement with Anthropic and additional commitments from other AI customers.
  • The contracts average 5.7 years, implying approximately $18 billion in annualized contracted revenue, but the figure is illustrative and is not formal revenue guidance.

Nscale is positioning a massive contracted-revenue pipeline as a central part of its investment case ahead of a potential initial public offering, highlighting the extraordinary demand for artificial intelligence computing infrastructure. The U.K.-based cloud infrastructure provider is telling prospective investors that contracted revenue has reached approximately $103 billion, although the figure represents the total value of signed agreements rather than revenue already generated.

Anthropic Deal Drives Nscale’s Contracted Revenue Surge

Nscale’s contracted revenue has risen sharply from approximately $51 billion before its agreement with Anthropic. The AI company has committed to spend $45 billion over six years to rent computing capacity from Nscale’s planned data center campus in West Virginia, making the agreement a major driver of the increase.

The West Virginia project is expected to provide Anthropic with 460 megawatts of computing capacity using Nvidia’s new Vera Rubin chips. The deal illustrates how AI developers are committing substantial amounts of capital to secure computing resources as demand for AI models and applications continues to expand.

Nscale is backed by Nvidia, which has become increasingly involved in the AI infrastructure ecosystem through investments and partnerships with specialized cloud providers. For Nscale, large long-term contracts can provide greater visibility into future demand while supporting the financing required to build data center capacity.

$103 Billion Is Not the Same as Current Revenue

The scale of Nscale’s contracted-revenue figure requires important context. The company’s contracts average 5.7 years, meaning the reported $103 billion total equates to roughly $18 billion in annualized contracted revenue if the agreements are fully performed.

However, the figure is described as illustrative and is not intended to represent formal revenue guidance. Nscale’s actual operating revenue remains far smaller. Documents reviewed by investors indicate that second-quarter revenue exceeded $100 million, compared with approximately $37 million in the first quarter. The second-quarter figure did not include revenue from the newly secured Anthropic agreement.

That gap between contracted commitments and realized revenue will likely become an important focus for public-market investors. Converting long-term agreements into revenue requires substantial data center construction, access to power, deployment of advanced chips and successful execution over multiple years.

IPO Investors Will Scrutinize Execution and Concentration Risks

Nscale’s potential IPO comes at a time when investors are placing significant valuations on companies supplying infrastructure for the AI boom. Publicly traded peer CoreWeave, for example, reported a revenue backlog of approximately $104 billion at the end of the second quarter, demonstrating how rapidly long-term AI infrastructure commitments have expanded across the sector.

For Nscale, however, the challenge will be demonstrating that its contracted pipeline can translate into sustainable revenue and cash flow. Large infrastructure projects require significant capital expenditure and depend on continued AI demand, access to electricity, advanced semiconductor availability and customer commitments remaining intact.

The potential IPO could therefore give investors a closer look at Nscale’s financial structure, customer concentration, capital requirements and expected timing for recognizing its contracted revenue. As the company moves toward a possible listing, the key indicators will be actual revenue growth, data center deployment, cash generation and the pace at which its headline $103 billion pipeline converts into operating results.
