Key Points
- Sandisk reported quarterly revenue and earnings above market expectations, supported by exceptional growth in its data center and enterprise businesses.
- The company issued first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue guidance below analyst estimates, creating a more cautious near-term outlook.
- A new $14 billion share repurchase authorization underscores management's confidence despite moderating growth expectations.
Sandisk delivered stronger-than-expected fiscal fourth-quarter results, highlighting continued momentum across the artificial intelligence and enterprise storage markets. While revenue, profitability, and margins comfortably exceeded Wall Street expectations, investors also focused on softer-than-expected guidance for the upcoming quarter, illustrating that markets remain highly sensitive to future growth expectations rather than historical performance alone.
The results reinforce the broader trend shaping the semiconductor and memory industries, where AI infrastructure spending continues to generate strong demand for advanced storage solutions. However, investors are increasingly evaluating whether the current pace of growth can be sustained as spending normalizes.
Revenue and Profitability Exceed Expectations
According to the company’s reported results, fourth-quarter revenue reached approximately $8.97 billion, exceeding consensus estimates of roughly $8.6 billion. Revenue increased 372% from a year earlier and advanced 51% sequentially, reflecting exceptionally strong demand across multiple business segments.
Adjusted earnings per share came in at $39.25, surpassing analyst expectations of approximately $34.45. Meanwhile, adjusted gross margin expanded to 84.6%, well above the estimated 81.5%, demonstrating continued pricing strength and improved operating efficiency.
The company also reported adjusted operating income of $7.10 billion, representing a sequential increase of 68%. These figures suggest that operating leverage remains significant as higher revenue translates into expanding profitability.
AI Infrastructure Continues to Drive Enterprise Storage Demand
The strongest performance came from Sandisk’s enterprise-focused businesses. Data center revenue reached approximately $2.98 billion, increasing 103% from the previous quarter as cloud providers and hyperscale customers continued expanding AI infrastructure.
The company’s Edge business generated $5.43 billion in revenue, rising 48% sequentially and nearly 392% compared with the previous year. These results reflect robust demand for storage technologies supporting artificial intelligence workloads, high-performance computing, and enterprise digital transformation initiatives.
Consumer demand remained comparatively weaker. Revenue from the Consumer segment totaled approximately $556 million, declining 32% from the previous quarter and falling 5% year over year. The divergence illustrates how enterprise AI investment continues to significantly outperform traditional consumer electronics markets.
Management emphasized that the company closed fiscal 2026 with a leading technology portfolio, identifying the data center business as a primary long-term growth engine while highlighting continued progress in strengthening strategic customer relationships.
Conservative Outlook Overshadows Strong Quarter
Despite the strong quarterly performance, investors also examined Sandisk’s outlook for the first quarter of fiscal 2027. Management projected revenue between $10.3 billion and $10.8 billion, below analyst expectations of approximately $11.1 billion.
The company guided for adjusted earnings per share of $44.00 to $46.00, broadly in line with market expectations, while forecasting an adjusted gross margin between 83% and 85%. Although profitability is expected to remain exceptionally strong, the more conservative revenue forecast suggests management anticipates a moderation in growth following an extraordinary fiscal year.
Sandisk also announced a new $14 billion share repurchase authorization, increasing its remaining buyback capacity to approximately $15.5 billion. The expanded authorization signals confidence in the company’s long-term financial position while providing additional flexibility for capital allocation.
Looking ahead, investors will closely monitor whether AI-driven storage demand continues to offset slowing consumer markets and support future earnings growth. Particular attention will be given to enterprise spending trends, hyperscale cloud investment, pricing conditions within the memory industry, and the company’s ability to maintain its industry-leading margins. As artificial intelligence infrastructure investment evolves, Sandisk’s execution across its enterprise storage portfolio will remain a key indicator of broader semiconductor sector demand.
