Tel Aviv Market Comes Under Heavy Selling Pressure

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed October 6 with a broad and significant decline across the major equity benchmarks. Tel Aviv-35 fell 0.59% to 4,198.81, while Tel Aviv-125 declined 0.87% to 4,028.10. The broader Tel Aviv-90 suffered the steepest loss, dropping 2.00% to 3,514.60.
The session marked a further deterioration from the previous day’s weakness, when the TA-90 had already fallen 1.41%. The latest decline was accompanied by strongly negative market breadth across virtually every major segment.

Broad-Based Weakness Dominates Trading

The breadth figures demonstrated the intensity of the selling. Within the Tel Aviv-90, only 12 securities advanced while 77 declined. The Tel Aviv-125 recorded 27 advancers against 97 declining securities, confirming that the pressure extended well beyond a limited group of companies.
The Tel Aviv-200 fell 1.53%, with 144 declining securities compared with 51 gainers. The Tel Aviv Sector-Balance index declined 1.31%, while the Tel Aviv 90 and banks index dropped 1.91%.
Smaller companies also weakened, although the Tel Aviv-SME60’s 1.06% decline was less severe than the fall in the TA-90. The Tel Aviv-20 declined 0.98% to 4,031.15.
The breadth across these indices suggests that October 6 was characterized by widespread selling rather than isolated weakness in a particular market segment.

Trading Activity Surges as Volatility Increases

Total stock turnover reached approximately NIS 5.20 billion, while bond turnover rose to approximately NIS 7.49 billion. Tel Aviv-125 generated approximately NIS 3.97 billion in turnover, while the Tel Aviv-200 recorded approximately NIS 4.05 billion.
Tel Aviv-35 turnover reached approximately NIS 2.94 billion, while the Tel Aviv Sector-Balance index recorded approximately NIS 3.73 billion.
The substantial turnover accompanying the market decline indicates a highly active session. The combination of elevated trading activity and strongly negative breadth points to significant repositioning as investors responded to the continuing weakness across Israeli equities.

Tower Gains While Next Vision Drops Sharply

Individual stocks displayed substantial divergence despite the broad market selloff. Tower rose 8.47% to 81,040, making it the most notable gainer identified from the TA-125 Index.
Next Vision moved sharply in the opposite direction, falling 12.65% to 21,330. It also generated approximately NIS 507.11 million in turnover, making it the notable high-activity stock highlighted in the session.
The next trading sessions will be important for determining whether the latest selloff represents another phase of short-term volatility or develops into a more persistent market decline. Investors will be watching the TA-35 around 4,200 and the TA-125 around 4,028, while the TA-90’s ability to stabilize after a 2% decline will be particularly important. Market breadth, equity turnover, bond activity and large individual-stock movements will remain key indicators of whether risk appetite begins to recover or selling pressure continues across the broader market.
