Tel Aviv Market Extends Its Sharp Selloff

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed October 7 with another broad and substantial decline, extending the selling pressure seen during the previous sessions. Tel Aviv-35 fell 2.44% to 4,096.45, while Tel Aviv-125 declined 2.38% to 3,932.42. Tel Aviv-90 also dropped 2.06% to 3,442.28.
The three major benchmarks all recorded losses of more than 2%, marking a significantly weaker session than October 6. The decline was accompanied by deeply negative market breadth across the main indices, indicating that selling pressure remained widespread.

Negative Breadth Dominates Across the Market

The breadth figures underscored the severity of the decline. Within the Tel Aviv-90, only 13 securities advanced while 77 declined. The Tel Aviv-125 recorded just 18 advancers compared with 108 declining securities.
The Tel Aviv-200 fell 2.25%, with 174 declining securities against only 24 gainers. The Tel Aviv Sector-Balance index declined 2.29%, while the Tel Aviv 90 and banks index dropped 1.84%.
Smaller companies were also heavily affected. The Tel Aviv-SME60 fell 2.66% to 1,219.26, with five advancing securities compared with 54 decliners. The Tel Aviv-20 declined 2.59% to 3,926.61.
The broad deterioration across these indices indicates that the latest decline was not concentrated in one market segment but extended across large-cap, mid-cap and smaller companies.

High Turnover Accompanies Heavy Selling

Trading activity remained elevated as the market moved lower. Total stock turnover reached approximately NIS 5.02 billion, while bond turnover totaled approximately NIS 6.63 billion.
Tel Aviv-125 generated approximately NIS 3.96 billion in turnover, while the Tel Aviv-200 recorded approximately NIS 4.06 billion. Tel Aviv-35 turnover reached approximately NIS 3.00 billion, and the Tel Aviv Sector-Balance index recorded approximately NIS 3.73 billion.
The combination of heavy turnover and deeply negative breadth points to a highly active session in which substantial trading occurred during the continued equity decline.

Danya Cebus Gains While Next Vision Remains Under Pressure

Individual stocks continued to show significant divergence despite the broad selloff. Danya Cebus rose 3.45% to 9,600, making it the notable gainer identified from the TA-125 Index.
Next Vision again moved sharply lower, falling 11.39% to 18,900. The company was also associated with the session’s highlighted trading activity, with turnover of approximately NIS 307.90 million.
The next sessions will be critical for assessing whether the market can stabilize after several consecutive declines. The TA-35’s move below 4,100, the TA-125’s decline below 4,000 and the continued weakness in the TA-90 will be important levels to monitor. Investors will also be watching market breadth, which has remained strongly negative, as well as equity and bond turnover for signs of changing participation. A stabilization in the major indices accompanied by improving breadth could signal an initial shift in market conditions, while another session of widespread declines would indicate that selling pressure remains firmly in control.
