Tel Aviv Market Stabilizes After Recent Declines

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed September 29 with a modest recovery across the major equity benchmarks. Tel Aviv-35 was essentially unchanged, edging 0.02% higher to 4,221.94, while Tel Aviv-125 gained 0.17% to 4,084.27. The broader Tel Aviv-90 outperformed, rising 0.72% to 3,670.37.

The session represented a shift from the widespread weakness recorded on September 28. While the headline gains were relatively moderate, market breadth improved considerably, particularly among the broader group of companies represented by the TA-90.

Broader Indices Lead the Recovery

The improvement was most visible outside the largest companies. The Tel Aviv-90 recorded 57 advancing securities compared with 27 decliners, reversing the heavily negative breadth seen during the previous session.

The Tel Aviv-200 also gained 0.39%, reaching 3,900.25, while the Tel Aviv 90 and banks index advanced 0.37% to 3,929.03. The Tel Aviv-SME60 increased 0.19%, indicating that smaller companies also participated in the recovery.

The Tel Aviv Sector-Balance index rose 0.10%, while the Tel Aviv-20 gained 0.20%. Across the listed indices provided, the direction was therefore generally positive, although the magnitude of the gains remained limited.

Trading Activity Remains Active

Total stock turnover reached approximately NIS 2.65 billion, compared with bond turnover of approximately NIS 3.99 billion. Tel Aviv-125 generated approximately NIS 1.89 billion in turnover, while the Tel Aviv-200 recorded approximately NIS 1.93 billion.

Tel Aviv-35 turnover stood at approximately NIS 1.38 billion, and the Tel Aviv 90 and banks index generated approximately NIS 999 million.

The continued activity in both equities and bonds provides context for the modest index gains. The market remained active while investors navigated the transition from the previous session’s broad decline toward a more mixed and constructive trading pattern.

Electra Real Estate Rebounds Sharply

Individual-stock movements provided another notable feature of the session. Electra Real Estate, which had fallen 15.88% on September 28, rebounded 9.70% to 1,697 on September 29. The move represented one of the largest gains among TA-125 constituents reported for the session.

Nofar Energy moved in the opposite direction, declining 4.42% to 14,280. The contrast between these two stocks illustrates the continued volatility at the individual-company level even as the broader indices stabilized.

Looking ahead, investors will be watching whether the improved breadth develops into a more sustained stabilization after the recent declines. The TA-90’s ability to maintain its latest advance, together with the TA-125’s position above 4,080 and the TA-35’s stability around 4,220, will provide important reference points for subsequent sessions. Trading turnover in both stocks and bonds, along with continued sharp movements in individual TA-125 constituents, will also remain important indicators of market participation and changing risk appetite.
