Key Points
- The Tel Aviv-35 rose 0.11% to 4,145.38 points, while the Tel Aviv-90 gained 1.15% and the Tel Aviv-125 advanced 0.28%.
- Market breadth remained firmly positive, with 87 advancing securities in the TA-125 compared with 36 decliners.
- Equity markets strengthened despite modest weakness in bonds, with the All-Bond General Index falling 0.03% and Tel Bond-Adjoined A declining 0.04%.
The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed August 26 with another session of gains across the major equity benchmarks, extending the recovery that began after the August 24 sell-off. Mid-cap and value shares led the advance, while bond markets moved slightly lower. Stock-market turnover reached approximately NIS 3.45 billion, compared with NIS 3.60 billion in bond-market turnover.
Tel Aviv Equities Continue to Recover
The Tel Aviv-35 rose 0.11% to 4,145.38 points, with 20 securities advancing, 15 declining and one unchanged. The benchmark’s modest gain followed a 0.35% increase on August 25, leaving the index higher for a second consecutive session.
The stronger move came from the Tel Aviv-90, which climbed 1.15% to 3,727.84 points. Sixty-seven securities advanced against 21 decliners and two unchanged securities. The performance indicates that buying interest remained particularly strong among mid-cap companies.
The Tel Aviv 90 and Banks Index gained 0.76% to 3,965.70 points. Seventy-one securities advanced, while 22 declined and two were unchanged, pointing to broad participation across the segment.
The Tel Aviv-125 advanced 0.28% to 4,042.96 points. Market breadth was strongly positive, with 87 advancing securities compared with 36 decliners and three unchanged securities. This continued the improvement from the broad weakness recorded on August 24.
Value Shares and Sector-Balance Index Gain
The Tel Aviv-125 Value Index was one of the strongest equity benchmarks during the session, rising 1.01% to 4,227.01 points. Forty-one securities advanced, compared with 13 declines and two unchanged securities.
The performance suggests that value-oriented shares continued to attract buying interest as the broader equity market recovered. The index had already gained 0.64% on August 25, extending its positive momentum into a second session.
The Tel Aviv Sector-Balance Index also advanced 0.61% to 4,642.33 points. Seventy securities increased against 29 decliners and one unchanged security. The breadth of gains indicates that the recovery remained relatively widespread across sectors.
Bond Market Moves Slightly Lower
The fixed-income market presented a different picture. The Short-Term Bond Index remained unchanged at 478.14 points, with 47 securities advancing, 35 declining and 53 unchanged.
The All-Bond General Index slipped 0.03% to 432.58 points. Decliners outnumbered advancers, with 329 securities falling against 207 gaining and 79 unchanged.
Tel Bond-Adjoined A declined 0.04% to 439.37 points, while the Tel Bond 60 Adjacent Index fell 0.02% to 428.84 points. These relatively small moves suggest that the day’s stronger risk appetite was concentrated primarily in equities rather than fixed income.
Market Outlook
The continued equity gains on August 26 strengthen the recent rebound from the August 24 decline, particularly as market breadth remains positive across the TA-90 and TA-125. Investors will be watching whether the TA-35 can build on its recovery while mid-cap and value shares maintain their stronger momentum. Trading volumes, market breadth and the behavior of bond indexes will remain important indicators of whether the improvement represents a broader stabilization or a temporary recovery within a still-volatile market.
