Key Points
- Tel Aviv equities are trading lower across the main benchmarks, with the TA-35 declining 0.49%, the TA-125 falling 0.49% and the TA-90 losing 0.48%.
- Market breadth is negative across most major equity indices, with declining securities significantly outnumbering advancing securities in the TA-90, TA-125, TA-SME60, TA-200 and TA Sector-Balance Index.
- The TA-90 and Banks Index is the main exception, rising 0.03%, although its internal breadth remains negative, while the TA-20 falls 0.44% and the TA-35 records an equal number of advancing and declining securities.
Tel Aviv financial markets are trading lower, with most major equity benchmarks under pressure and declining securities outnumbering advancing securities across much of the market. The TA-35 and TA-125 are both down 0.49%, while the TA-90 is lower by 0.48%. The weakness extends beyond the largest companies, with the TA-SME60 recording a sharper decline, pointing to softer risk appetite across several segments of the Tel Aviv equity market.
TA-35 and TA-125 Decline as Broader Equity Benchmarks Weaken
The TA-35 has declined 0.49% to 4,151.84 points. Its internal participation is evenly balanced, with 18 advancing securities and 18 declining securities. The equal number of advancing and declining securities indicates that the benchmark’s decline is not accompanied by broad downside participation across all of its constituents.
The broader TA-125 has fallen 0.49% to 4,061.96 points. Market breadth is significantly weaker, with 42 advancing securities compared with 82 declining securities. The substantial difference indicates that selling pressure extends across a broad section of the Tel Aviv equity market rather than being concentrated in a limited number of companies.
Mid-cap equities are also under pressure. The TA-90 has declined 0.48% to 3,781.19 points, with 24 advancing securities compared with 64 declining securities. The strongly negative breadth indicates that weakness is widespread across the mid-cap segment.
Small- and mid-sized companies are experiencing even greater pressure. The TA-SME60 has fallen 0.75% to 1,319.79 points, with 17 advancing securities compared with 35 declining securities. The sharper decline in this benchmark suggests that smaller listed companies are facing greater selling pressure than the large-cap segment.
The TA-200 has declined 0.41% to 3,957.62 points. Its internal breadth is also negative, with 65 advancing securities compared with 121 declining securities. This provides further evidence that the current weakness is broad rather than confined to a small group of heavily weighted stocks.
Banking Shares Show Limited Resilience as Sector Breadth Remains Negative
The TA-90 and Banks Index is the primary exception among the major benchmarks, gaining 0.03% to 4,015.52 points. However, its internal breadth remains clearly negative, with 29 advancing securities compared with 64 declining securities. The marginal increase in the index therefore does not reflect broad participation across its constituents.
The TA Sector-Balance Index has declined 0.21% to 4,674.96 points. Its market breadth is negative, with 35 advancing securities compared with 64 declining securities. The data indicates that weakness is distributed across multiple sectors rather than concentrated in a single industry.
The TA-20 has fallen 0.44% to 4,018.45 points. Its internal breadth is somewhat more balanced, with 11 advancing securities compared with nine declining securities. Despite the positive difference between advancing and declining securities, the index itself is lower, highlighting the influence of individual constituents on benchmark performance.
Trading activity is also significant across the equity market. Turnover stands at approximately ₪365.9 million in the TA-35, ₪444.99 million in the TA-125 and ₪449.12 million in the TA-200. The combination of substantial activity and negative breadth indicates that investors remain actively engaged while equity prices move lower.
Outlook: Investors Monitor Whether Broad Selling Pressure Can Stabilize
Looking ahead, investors will focus on whether the negative breadth across the TA-90, TA-125, TA-200 and TA Sector-Balance Index begins to stabilize or whether selling pressure spreads further. A recovery in advancing securities, particularly among mid-cap and small-cap shares, would provide an important indication of improving risk appetite. Continued weakness in the TA-SME60 and sustained negative breadth across the broader market could instead signal continued caution among investors. The relative performance of banking shares will also warrant attention, given the 0.03% gain in the TA-90 and Banks Index despite its significantly negative internal breadth. Global equity-market trends, institutional flows, interest-rate expectations, corporate earnings and developments in the Israeli economy will remain important factors for investors. For now, Tel Aviv markets are characterized by moderate declines across the main benchmarks, broad downside participation in several major indices and limited areas of resilience.
