Israeli markets delivered a mixed performance on Tuesday, August 11, as the benchmark TA-35 managed a marginal gain while broader equity indexes remained under pressure. The session continued the pattern seen earlier in the week, with mid-cap, sector, and broader market shares facing selling pressure despite relative resilience among large-cap companies.

Unlike the previous session, fixed-income markets also moved lower, with declines across the major bond indexes.

Large-Cap Stocks Remain Relatively Resilient

The TA-35 Index rose 0.06% to close at 4,159.07 points. Market breadth was moderately positive, with 19 advancing securities compared with 16 decliners and one unchanged stock.

The broader TA-125 Index, however, fell 0.14% to 4,033.17 points. Declining securities outnumbered gainers by 79 to 45, with two unchanged issues, indicating that weakness remained widespread outside the largest companies.

Stock market turnover totaled approximately NIS 4.22 billion, reflecting continued active participation despite the limited movement in the main benchmark.

The contrasting performance between the TA-35 and TA-125 suggests that larger companies continued to provide some support while broader market sentiment remained cautious.

Mid-Caps Remain Under Pressure

The TA-90 Index was among the weakest major equity benchmarks, falling 1.15% to 3,642.71 points. Only 26 securities advanced compared with 63 decliners and one unchanged issue.

The TA-90 and Banks Index, however, gained 0.12% to close at 3,883.14 points. Thirty-one securities advanced while 63 declined, indicating that the index’s modest gain was not accompanied by broad market participation.

The TA-125 Value Index rose 0.25% to 4,011.98 points. While the index gained, market breadth remained negative, with 22 advancing securities against 33 decliners.

The Tel Aviv Sector-Balance Index declined 0.18% to 4,546.49 points. Declining securities outnumbered advancing stocks by 57 to 41, reinforcing the cautious tone across the broader market.

Bond Market Turns Lower

Israel’s fixed-income market weakened during the session after showing relative resilience in previous trading days.

The All-Bond General Index declined 0.08% to close at 432.74 points. Bond market breadth was notably weak, with 488 declining securities compared with only 55 advancing issues and 72 unchanged.

The Short-Term Bond Index was unchanged at 477.60 points, providing some stability within the fixed-income market.

Corporate bond indexes also declined. The Tel Bond-Adjoined A Index fell 0.10% to 439.35 points, while the Tel Bond 60 Adjacent Index declined 0.08% to 429.08 points.

Bond market turnover reached approximately NIS 3.90 billion, indicating substantial activity despite the generally negative performance.

Market Outlook

Tuesday’s session continued to show a divided Israeli market, with large-cap stocks displaying relative resilience while mid-cap and broader equity indexes remained under pressure. The modest gain in the TA-35 was not supported by broad market participation, while the decline in the TA-90 highlighted continued weakness among mid-sized companies. The simultaneous pullback in bond indexes also marked a shift from the defensive strength seen in previous sessions. Investors will continue watching market breadth, corporate developments, economic indicators, interest-rate expectations, and geopolitical conditions to determine whether the recent weakness develops into a broader trend or remains concentrated in selected segments.
