At Computex in Taiwan, CEO Jensen Huang unveiled RTX Spark, a new processor designed to bring advanced AI capabilities directly to personal computers. The announcement represents one of Nvidia’s most ambitious attempts yet to expand beyond cloud infrastructure and reshape the future of the PC industry.
According to Huang, the project is the result of three years of collaboration with Microsoft and aims to reinvent personal computing for the AI era.
Investors immediately recognized the significance of the move, sending technology stocks sharply higher—or lower—depending on which side of the competitive landscape they occupy.
Turning PCs Into AI Companions
The defining feature of RTX Spark is its ability to run AI agents locally on devices rather than relying entirely on cloud-based computing.
Traditionally, advanced AI workloads have required data center processing. Nvidia’s new approach shifts a significant portion of that computing power directly onto the PC.
The result could be faster response times, lower cloud dependency, improved privacy, and more personalized AI experiences.
Nvidia describes RTX Spark as a “superchip for the era of personal AI agents,” envisioning computers that function less as tools and more as intelligent collaborators.
Winners Emerge Across the PC Ecosystem
The market reaction was swift.
Shares of companies expected to launch RTX Spark-powered devices moved higher, led by Asus, which surged roughly 10% in Taiwan trading.
Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, and MSI also gained as investors anticipated a new PC upgrade cycle driven by AI capabilities.
Meanwhile, Arm Holdings jumped more than 16% in U.S. premarket trading as enthusiasm grew around ARM-based AI computing platforms.
Pressure Mounts on Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm
Not every company benefited from the announcement.
Qualcomm fell approximately 7.2%, Intel declined around 5.4%, and AMD dropped roughly 4.5%.
Investors appear concerned that Nvidia’s entry into AI-powered PCs could disrupt an industry long dominated by Intel and AMD, while also challenging Qualcomm’s efforts to establish itself as a leader in ARM-based Windows devices.
The competitive landscape is becoming increasingly crowded as AI shifts from the cloud to consumer hardware.
A Strategic Partnership with MediaTek
RTX Spark was developed in partnership with MediaTek, one of the world’s leading semiconductor designers.
The collaboration provides Nvidia with additional expertise in power-efficient chip design and ARM-based architectures—both of which are becoming increasingly important as AI workloads move onto personal devices.
The first generation of RTX Spark-powered Windows PCs is expected to launch this autumn through Lenovo, HP, Dell, Microsoft Surface, Asus, and MSI, with Acer and Gigabyte expected to follow.

The broader significance of RTX Spark extends beyond a single chip launch.
The PC industry has spent years searching for a compelling reason to drive large-scale upgrades. Many technology companies believe AI could provide that catalyst.
