Global markets ended September 10, 2026, with broad declines across U.S. and European equities, while Asian markets were predominantly lower. Tel Aviv recorded a particularly weak session, with all eight supplied benchmarks declining and market breadth heavily tilted toward falling securities. Brazil and Japan provided notable exceptions, with IBOVESPA and Nikkei 225 posting gains.

America: U.S. Equities Weaken While Brazil Gains

U.S. equities declined on September 10. The S&P 500 fell 0.58% to 7,591.70, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.60% to 52,064.10. The Nasdaq fell 0.65% to 26,081.72.

Smaller-cap stocks underperformed the major U.S. benchmarks, with Russell 2000 falling 1.04% to 2,890.95. Canada’s S&P/TSX Composite Index also declined, falling 1.11% to 35,506.28.

Brazil was the clear positive exception in the supplied Americas data. IBOVESPA gained 1.42% to 188,268.59. The U.S. Dollar Index increased 0.12% to 99.17. The VIX stood at 17.84, up 8.38%.

The Americas therefore presented a mixed picture, with all three major U.S. equity benchmarks, Russell 2000 and the Canadian index declining, while Brazil’s IBOVESPA advanced 1.42%.

Europe: Every Supplied Equity Benchmark Declines

European equities weakened across every supplied major benchmark on September 10. The CAC 40 fell 0.49% to 8,116.76, while the Euronext 100 Index declined 0.53% to 1,886.69. The FTSE 100 fell 0.57% to 10,608.92.

The EURO STOXX 50 declined 0.67% to 6,268.97, Germany’s DAX fell 0.84% to 25,361.15, and the MSCI Europe Index recorded the largest decline among the supplied European benchmarks, falling 0.85% to 2,813.78.

Currency indexes also moved lower. The Euro Index declined 0.24% to 116.09, while the British Pound Index fell 0.32% to 135.08.

The European session was therefore uniformly negative across the supplied equity benchmarks, with the MSCI Europe and DAX recording the largest declines among the major regional indexes listed.

Asia: Broad Weakness With Japan as the Exception

Asian markets were predominantly lower on September 10. The Nikkei 225 was the main positive exception among the supplied major equity benchmarks, gaining 0.20% to 65,270.95. The Japanese Yen Index also increased 0.27% to 65.10.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng recorded the largest decline in the region, falling 1.27% to 24,954.47. The S&P/ASX 200 dropped 1.03% to 8,819.40, while China’s SSE Composite Index declined 0.43% to 3,934.40.

South Korea’s KOSPI Composite Index fell 0.25% to 7,033.92, while India’s S&P BSE SENSEX declined 0.08% to 74,707.57. The Australian Dollar Index was unchanged at 72.20.

The Asian session was therefore broadly weaker, with declines across China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia and India, while Japan posted a modest gain.

Tel Aviv: Sharp Losses Across All Eight Benchmarks

Tel Aviv equities recorded a significantly weaker session on September 10, with all eight supplied benchmarks declining. The TA-35 fell 1.22% to 4,221.44, while the TA-90 declined 1.95% to 3,828.38. The TA-125 fell 1.38% to 4,121.28.

The broader sell-off was even sharper in several segments. TA-SME60 dropped 2.32% to 1,334.22, TA-200 declined 1.89% to 4,010.92, and TA Sector-Balance fell 1.65% to 4,733.64. TA 90 and Banks declined 1.44% to 4,075.44, while TA-20 fell 1.36% to 4,096.20.

Market breadth was decisively negative. Within the TA-125, only 7 securities advanced compared with 118 that declined. Turnover reached approximately NIS 2.73 billion in the TA-125 and approximately NIS 2.03 billion in the TA-35.

Outlook for September 11: Holiday Closures and Global Risk in Focus

September 11 will feature market closures that affect the regional trading picture. The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange will be closed for Jewish New Year, while the Caracas Stock Exchange will be closed for the Lady of Coromoto holiday.

For markets that remain open, investors will focus on monetary-policy expectations, inflation trends, corporate developments, currency movements, energy prices and geopolitical risks. Central-bank expectations will remain important for equity valuations, bond yields and currency markets.

After the broad declines recorded across the major U.S. and European benchmarks and the sharper sell-off in Tel Aviv on September 10, investors will monitor whether weakness spreads further across global markets or begins to stabilize. The combination of monetary-policy uncertainty, economic data, geopolitical developments and market volatility will remain central to the September 11 trading environment.
