Key Points
- The CAC 40 and EURO STOXX 50 each gained 0.43%, leading the European equity advance.
- The Euronext 100 rose 0.37%, while the DAX, MSCI Europe and FTSE 100 also posted gains.
- European currencies weakened, with the British Pound Index falling 0.32% and the Euro Index declining 0.24%.
European markets moved higher on September 11, 2026, with all major equity benchmarks in the supplied data posting gains. The session marked a broad recovery across European equities, following the mixed performance recorded in the previous session.
The CAC 40 and EURO STOXX 50 led the advance, each gaining 0.43%. The CAC 40 ended at 8,151.32, while the EURO STOXX 50 reached 6,296.13. The Euronext 100 Index also strengthened, rising 0.37% to 1,893.62.
DAX and Broader European Indexes Advance
The DAX added 0.29% to 25,435.74, while MSCI Europe gained 0.21% to 2,819.58. The FTSE 100 recorded a more modest increase of 0.14%, closing at 10,624.17.
The gains were broad-based, with every major equity benchmark in the supplied figures finishing higher. The strongest advances were concentrated in the CAC 40, EURO STOXX 50 and Euronext 100, while the FTSE 100 posted the smallest increase.
Despite the positive daily performance, the broader index levels remained below those reported earlier in the week, including the September 10 readings for the DAX, FTSE 100 and MSCI Europe.
European Currencies Decline
Currency markets moved in the opposite direction from equities. The Euro Index fell 0.24% to 116.09, while the British Pound Index declined 0.32% to 135.08.
The pound recorded the larger of the two currency declines, reversing part of its previous-session gain. The Euro Index also moved lower after advancing 0.11% on September 10.
Outlook
European equities ended the session on a broadly positive note, with all major benchmarks advancing. The CAC 40 and EURO STOXX 50 delivered the strongest gains at 0.43%, while the Euronext 100 and DAX also posted solid increases. Currency performance remained weaker, however, with both the euro and pound declining. The divergence between equities and currencies will remain an important feature to watch as European markets enter the next session.
