European markets began the new trading month with another broadly positive session on August 3, 2026, as investors continued to build on the strong momentum established at the end of July. Major equity benchmarks across Germany, France, and the broader eurozone advanced, while European currencies also posted modest gains. The coordinated rise across both stock and currency markets reflects sustained investor confidence as attention turns to corporate earnings, economic data, and central bank policy in the weeks ahead.

The session demonstrated that buying interest remained firmly intact following July’s strong finish, with investors continuing to favor European equities despite ongoing global economic uncertainties.

Germany Leads the Regional Advance

Germany’s DAX delivered the strongest performance among the major European benchmarks, climbing 1.31% to 25,965.62. The move pushed the index closer to the 26,000 level and reinforced investor confidence in Germany’s industrial and export-oriented economy. Strong demand for German equities continues to support broader sentiment across continental Europe.

France’s CAC 40 also posted a solid gain, rising 0.99% to 8,594.24. The advance extended the French market’s recent upward trend and reflected continued investor optimism toward large-cap companies.

The strength in Europe’s two largest equity markets provided the foundation for another constructive trading session across the region.

Regional Benchmarks Continue Higher

The EURO STOXX 50 advanced 0.74% to 6,405.29, highlighting renewed demand for large-cap eurozone companies. The index continues to benefit from improving investor confidence and broad participation across major sectors.

The MSCI Europe Index gained 0.49% to 2,856.37, indicating continued strength across multiple European markets and industries. The advance suggests investors maintained broad exposure to the region rather than concentrating on individual countries.

Meanwhile, the Euronext 100 Index rose 0.41% to 1,933.66, reflecting steady buying interest in multinational corporations with diversified European operations.

The FTSE 100 added 0.12% to 10,881.05, contributing to the region-wide advance, although the U.K. benchmark posted more modest gains compared with its continental peers.

European Currencies Maintain Positive Momentum

Currency markets also ended the session in positive territory. The British Pound Index edged higher by 0.11% to 134.77, while the Euro Index gained 0.03% to 115.29.

Although the advances were relatively modest, the positive movement in both currencies complements the strength seen across equity markets and indicates continued confidence in European financial assets.

The simultaneous gains in stocks and currencies reinforce the constructive sentiment that has characterized European markets in recent sessions.

Outlook

European markets have entered August with solid momentum, extending the broad-based rally that concluded July. Strong performances from Germany’s DAX, France’s CAC 40, and the EURO STOXX 50 demonstrate continued investor confidence in Europe’s largest economies, while gains across the MSCI Europe Index and Euronext 100 reflect widespread participation. As second-quarter earnings season progresses, investors will closely monitor corporate results, inflation data, central bank communications, and macroeconomic indicators to determine whether the current rally can be sustained through the remainder of the summer.
