Turkish Airlines Expands Its Boeing Commitment

Turkish Airlines is planning one of its largest future fleet expansions, announcing an agreement to acquire up to 150 Boeing aircraft. The order consists of 100 firm Boeing 737 MAX jets and an option for another 50 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled from 2033 through 2037.

The scale and timing of the order point to a long-term strategy rather than an immediate capacity increase. By committing to aircraft deliveries more than a decade into the future, the airline is positioning its fleet around continued expansion in international aviation demand.

Deal Links Aviation and U.S. Manufacturing

The announcement came while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in New York, one day after meeting U.S. President Donald Trump alongside Middle Eastern leaders during the United Nations General Assembly. Trump subsequently described the agreement as a major day for Boeing and American manufacturing.

Trump also linked the announcement to Bangladesh’s plans to purchase additional Boeing aircraft, highlighting the broader importance of international airline orders for the U.S. aerospace manufacturer and its domestic production network.

Another Major Boeing Order Follows 2025 Commitment

The latest agreement comes almost exactly one year after Turkish Airlines announced plans to purchase another 225 Boeing aircraft following talks between Erdogan and Trump at the White House.

The additional commitment reinforces the scale of the carrier’s relationship with Boeing. Rather than treating fleet renewal as a short-term requirement, Turkish Airlines is continuing to secure aircraft capacity well into the next decade.

Turkish Airlines Continues Its Global Expansion

Turkish Airlines is based at Istanbul Airport and operates an extensive international network. According to figures provided on the airline’s website, its fleet consists of 514 aircraft and its network reaches more than 130 countries.

The carrier transported 92.6 million passengers in 2025. Against that existing scale, the planned Boeing deliveries could provide additional capacity for future route expansion while supporting the replacement and modernization of portions of its fleet.
