Alphabet’s Google is reportedly close to finalizing a multiyear agreement with Constellation Energy to secure nuclear power, in a deal valued at $1 billion or more. The potential agreement would deepen the connection between the U.S. technology sector’s AI infrastructure expansion and the nuclear power industry, as hyperscalers increasingly seek large, reliable electricity supplies for data centers.

Google and Constellation Move Toward a Major Power Agreement

The reported agreement would make Google the latest major technology company to secure nuclear power from Constellation Energy, one of the largest nuclear power operators in the United States. Details of the potential contract, including the exact volume of electricity and duration, have not been publicly finalized, but the reported value of at least $1 billion points to a substantial long-term commitment.

The development comes as Google continues expanding computing infrastructure to support artificial intelligence services and cloud operations. Unlike intermittent renewable generation, nuclear plants can provide continuous electricity, making existing nuclear capacity particularly attractive as data-center power requirements rise.

For Constellation, a long-term corporate power agreement can provide greater revenue visibility while supporting investment in existing nuclear facilities and potential capacity expansions. The structure also reflects a broader shift in which large technology companies are increasingly participating directly in the long-term financing of electricity infrastructure.

All Four Hyperscalers Could Be on Constellation’s Customer List

A Google agreement would have particular significance because Constellation would then have nuclear power relationships with all four major U.S. hyperscalers: Alphabet’s Google, Microsoft, Meta Platforms and Amazon.

Microsoft has an agreement with Constellation connected to the restart of the former Three Mile Island Unit 1 reactor in Pennsylvania, while Meta signed a 20-year agreement in 2025 covering 1,121 megawatts of emissions-free nuclear energy from the Clinton Clean Energy Center in Illinois. Amazon followed with a 20-year agreement announced in September 2026 covering 690 megawatts from Calvert Cliffs in Maryland, including approximately 190 megawatts of additional generating capacity.

The concentration of major technology companies among Constellation’s customers illustrates the scale of electricity demand emerging from AI. It also gives nuclear operators a growing pool of corporate customers capable of making long-term commitments that can support plant investments, relicensing and capacity upgrades.

AI Infrastructure Is Turning Electricity Into a Strategic Asset

The potential Google deal is part of a much broader transformation in the relationship between technology companies and the power sector. Hyperscalers are no longer simply consumers of electricity; their long-term energy requirements are increasingly influencing decisions about nuclear plants, grid capacity and new generation projects.

For investors, the key issue extends beyond the value of an individual contract. Long-duration agreements can improve visibility for nuclear operators while giving hyperscalers greater certainty over future power availability. At the same time, regulatory approvals, transmission constraints, electricity pricing and the ability to expand nuclear capacity remain important considerations.

The next developments will center on whether Google and Constellation formally announce an agreement and what commercial terms emerge. Investors will also be watching Constellation’s ability to translate hyperscaler demand into additional capacity, infrastructure investment and long-term earnings visibility. If the reported deal proceeds, it could further establish nuclear power as a core component of the U.S. AI infrastructure buildout and reinforce the strategic importance of reliable electricity alongside computing capacity.
