Key Points
- Cloudflare exceeded Wall Street expectations on revenue, earnings, and operating income while raising its full-year 2026 guidance.
- The company expects continued momentum in AI-driven networking, security, and cloud infrastructure demand.
- Despite strong operating performance, restructuring charges resulted in a GAAP net loss during the quarter.
Cloudflare Inc. reported better-than-expected second-quarter 2026 financial results, surpassing analyst estimates across most key metrics and increasing its full-year financial outlook. The strong performance reflects continued enterprise demand for cloud networking, cybersecurity, and AI-related infrastructure, reinforcing investor confidence in one of the technology sector’s fastest-growing infrastructure providers.
The results come as businesses worldwide accelerate investments in artificial intelligence, secure networking, and edge computing. Companies capable of supporting AI workloads and machine-to-machine communications are increasingly benefiting from long-term digital transformation spending despite an uncertain macroeconomic environment.
Revenue and Profitability Continue to Outperform
Cloudflare generated second-quarter revenue of $696.1 million, exceeding analyst expectations of approximately $666 million while increasing 36% from the same period last year. The company also reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.29, above the consensus estimate of $0.27 and representing 38% year-over-year growth.
Operating performance remained strong throughout the quarter. Operating income reached $96.1 million, surpassing analyst expectations of approximately $90.2 million and rising 33% year over year. Meanwhile, free cash flow totaled $56.4 million, reflecting a 69% increase compared with the prior year, although it came in slightly below analyst estimates.
The combination of accelerating revenue growth and expanding operating income demonstrates Cloudflare’s continued ability to scale its business while maintaining disciplined cost management in an increasingly competitive cloud infrastructure market.
Raised Guidance Reflects Confidence in AI-Driven Growth
Management raised its full-year fiscal 2026 guidance, signaling confidence that demand will remain strong throughout the remainder of the year. The company now expects annual revenue between $2.86 billion and $2.87 billion, above previous market expectations of approximately $2.81 billion.
Cloudflare also increased its forecast for operating income to between $443 million and $445 million, while raising projected earnings per share to $1.25–$1.26, both ahead of analyst estimates.
Looking ahead to the third quarter, management expects revenue between $736 million and $737 million, operating income of $129 million to $130 million, and earnings per share of approximately $0.34, all above Wall Street consensus forecasts. The guidance suggests management expects customer demand to remain resilient despite broader economic uncertainty.
Artificial Intelligence Becomes a Strategic Growth Catalyst
Management highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence in shaping internet infrastructure, stating that the web is undergoing a “fundamental rewrite” as AI-powered answer engines and agent-driven commerce increase machine-to-machine internet traffic.
The company’s remaining performance obligation (RPO) increased 35% year over year, indicating healthy future contracted revenue and continued enterprise customer demand. Meanwhile, the non-GAAP gross margin reached 73.1%, although it declined by approximately 320 basis points compared with the prior year.
Cloudflare reported a GAAP net loss of $170 million, primarily influenced by approximately $150.7 million in restructuring charges. While the accounting loss affected reported earnings under GAAP standards, investors are likely to focus more closely on the company’s expanding operating income, recurring revenue growth, and stronger forward guidance.
For institutional investors in Israel and globally, Cloudflare’s results reinforce the growing importance of cloud infrastructure providers supporting artificial intelligence applications. As enterprises increasingly modernize their digital architecture, companies capable of delivering secure networking, cybersecurity, and edge computing services remain well positioned to benefit from long-term structural demand.
Looking ahead, investors will closely monitor Cloudflare’s ability to sustain AI-driven revenue growth, expand operating margins, and convert increasing enterprise demand into higher recurring cash flow. Future contract growth, customer expansion, and continued adoption of AI-enabled networking solutions will be key indicators of whether the company’s raised guidance can translate into sustained long-term financial performance.
