Key Points
- Cerebras reported second-quarter 2026 core revenue of $209.9 million, up 103% year over year and above Wall Street expectations of approximately $190.6 million.
- The AI chipmaker raised its full-year 2026 core revenue outlook to $885 million, compared with $510 million in 2025, while forecasting third-quarter core revenue of approximately $215 million.
- Despite strong results and higher guidance, Cerebras shares fell sharply in after-hours trading, highlighting investor concerns over valuation, margins and the pace of AI infrastructure expansion.
Cerebras Systems delivered a strong second quarter as demand for AI computing and high-speed inference continued to expand across the technology industry. The results underscore the rapid growth of specialized AI infrastructure companies, while the market reaction shows that strong revenue growth alone may not be sufficient to satisfy investors as expectations and valuations rise.
Core Revenue More Than Doubles in the Second Quarter
Cerebras reported second-quarter core revenue of $209.9 million, representing a 103% increase from $103.3 million in the same quarter a year earlier. The result exceeded Wall Street expectations of approximately $190.6 million, while the company reported an adjusted loss of $0.05 per share, significantly better than analysts’ expectation of a $0.17 loss per share.
The company’s performance reflects growing demand for its AI computing systems and infrastructure. Cerebras has positioned its wafer-scale technology as an alternative to conventional GPU-based computing, with a particular focus on delivering fast inference for increasingly complex AI workloads.
Higher Guidance Signals Continued AI Infrastructure Demand
Cerebras also raised its full-year 2026 core revenue forecast to $885 million, compared with $510 million in 2025 and above Wall Street’s previous expectation of approximately $863.4 million. For the third quarter, the company expects core revenue of approximately $215 million, slightly above analysts’ forecast of $210.2 million.
The company said it plans to more than triple revenue in 2027 and is expanding its infrastructure to support expected demand. Cerebras reported $25.4 billion in remaining performance obligations as of June 30, providing significant visibility into future contracted revenue. The company also expects to have at least 600 megawatts of data-center capacity by the fourth quarter of 2027.
Strong Results Meet Higher Investor Expectations
Despite the strong earnings performance and upgraded outlook, Cerebras shares fell sharply in after-hours trading after rising 11.6% during the regular session to close at $262.06. The reaction highlights the gap that can emerge between improving fundamentals and elevated investor expectations in the AI sector.
For Israeli investors following global technology and semiconductor markets, Cerebras provides another example of how the AI investment cycle is expanding beyond traditional chipmakers and cloud providers. The company’s customers include OpenAI and Amazon Web Services, while partnerships with major technology companies could provide additional opportunities as demand for AI inference increases.
Going forward, investors will focus on Cerebras’ ability to expand manufacturing and data-center capacity while improving margins and converting customer commitments into sustained revenue. The company’s relationships with OpenAI, AWS and other customers could support its growth trajectory, but valuation, infrastructure costs and the pace of AI spending will remain important factors in determining whether its strong earnings momentum can continue through 2026 and into 2027.
