Key Points
- Fourth-quarter revenue stabilized: Bioceres reported $55.9 million in 4Q26 revenue, up 1% year over year, as 36% growth in Crop Nutrition offset declines in Crop Protection and Seeds.
- Cost reductions improved operating performance: SG&A fell 24% for the full year to $71.2 million, helping Adjusted EBITDA recover to positive $0.6 million in the fourth quarter.
- Fiscal 2027 will focus on profitability and liquidity: Management plans to rationalize its portfolio, realign R&D and commercial strategies, improve cash generation and address the company’s capital structure.
Bioceres Crop Solutions is entering fiscal 2027 after a challenging year in which restructuring, creditor litigation and the reconfiguration of its Seeds business weighed heavily on financial performance. Yet the company’s fourth-quarter results provide early evidence that aggressive cost controls and a sharper focus on continuing operations may be beginning to stabilize the business.
Did Bioceres Stabilize Revenue in the Fourth Quarter?
Bioceres generated $55.9 million in fourth-quarter revenue, broadly unchanged from the $55.4 million reported a year earlier. The stability was driven by a strong performance in Crop Nutrition, where revenue increased 36% to $23.5 million. That growth helped offset a 7% decline in Crop Protection revenue to $27.7 million and a 43% drop in Seed and Integrated Products revenue to $4.8 million.
The full-year picture was considerably weaker. FY26 revenue declined 18% to $238.3 million from $289.4 million. Approximately half of that decline was attributed to the substantially completed reconfiguration of the Seeds business and the associated reduction in HB4-related activities.
Can Cost Cutting Restore Profitability?
One of the clearest improvements came from Bioceres’ operating expense base. Fourth-quarter SG&A declined 19% year over year, while full-year SG&A fell 24% to $71.2 million. The reductions reflect cost actions implemented throughout the fiscal year and allowed the company to materially improve its bottom line despite weaker annual revenue.
Net loss from continuing operations narrowed to $31.8 million in 4Q26 from $54.4 million in the prior-year quarter. More importantly, Adjusted EBITDA moved from a negative $9.6 million to positive $0.6 million. For the full year, however, Adjusted EBITDA remained below the prior year at $25.5 million versus $28.9 million.
Why Did Gross Profit Remain Under Pressure?
Gross profit declined 6% in the fourth quarter to $12.7 million, while gross margin contracted to 22.8% from 24.6%. The company said an updated assessment of inventory obsolescence resulted in a $4.0 million non-recurring adjustment, masking stronger performance across several core product categories.
For FY26, gross profit fell 21% to $82.9 million. Lower contributions from inoculants and higher inventory obsolescence charges offset improvements across several core products. Crop Nutrition was also affected by a lower contribution from the Syngenta agreement, although microbeaded fertilizers provided some support.
Could Fiscal 2027 Mark a Strategic Reset?
Management is entering the new fiscal year with a more focused operating strategy. Bioceres has substantially completed its nearly two-year Seeds business reconfiguration and concluded an external strategic assessment of its continuing operations. The next phase includes rationalizing the portfolio and go-to-market channels, revisiting commercial policies and strategic relationships, and aligning R&D and investment spending with clearer financial objectives.
The company’s ability to convert these initiatives into stronger margins and cash generation will be critical. Management has also identified capital structure and liquidity as priorities, making financial discipline just as important as revenue growth. If the improved cost base can be sustained while core product categories strengthen, Bioceres could enter fiscal 2027 with a more resilient business model despite the challenges of the previous year.
