Broad-Based Selling Intensifies

Tel Aviv equities closed sharply lower on September 10, 2026, extending the market’s recent weakness as selling pressure spread across virtually every major benchmark. The Tel Aviv-35 declined 1.22% to 4,221.44, while the broader Tel Aviv-125 fell 1.38% to 4,121.28.

The market’s breadth was particularly weak. Within the TA-125, 118 securities declined and only seven advanced. The scale of the imbalance indicates that the session’s losses were broadly distributed rather than concentrated in a handful of large constituents.

TA-90 and Smaller-Cap Stocks Underperform

The Tel Aviv-90 was among the hardest-hit major indices, falling 1.95% to 3,828.38. Its internal breadth was also heavily negative, with 85 declining securities against just four advancers.

The weakness extended to smaller companies. The Tel Aviv-SME60 dropped 2.32% to 1,334.22, recording the largest percentage decline among the supplied benchmarks. The Tel Aviv-200 fell 1.89% to 4,010.92, while the Tel Aviv Sector-Balance index declined 1.65% to 4,733.64.

Financial stocks also faced significant selling pressure. The Tel Aviv 90 and Banks index dropped 1.44% to 4,075.44. Meanwhile, the Tel Aviv-20 declined 1.36% to 4,096.20, with only one advancing security compared with 19 declines.

Elevated Turnover Amid Heavy Selling

Trading activity remained substantial during the selloff. Total stock turnover reached approximately NIS 3.589 billion, while bond turnover totaled approximately NIS 4.412 billion. TA-125 turnover alone reached approximately NIS 2.732 billion, while the Tel Aviv-200 recorded approximately NIS 2.825 billion.

The combination of high turnover and exceptionally weak market breadth suggests that the decline involved significant participation rather than a thin-market move. Bond trading was also active, with turnover exceeding NIS 4.4 billion.

Individual stocks nevertheless moved against the broader direction. Elbit Systems was the strongest notable gainer within the TA-125, rising 2.61% to 223,100. OPC Energy was among the weakest, falling 5.73% to 9,550. Workers recorded a reported trading cycle of approximately NIS 227.779 million.

The September 10 session leaves investors facing a more challenging short-term market setup. The TA-125 has now closed at 4,121.28, while the TA-90 has fallen to 3,828.38, making the ability of these benchmarks to stabilize an important focus for upcoming sessions. Investors will likely monitor whether selling pressure begins to ease, whether market breadth improves from the extremely weak levels recorded today, and whether turnover remains elevated. The resilience of individual sectors and stronger-performing stocks could also create selective opportunities, but the broad declines across large-, mid- and small-cap benchmarks indicate that risk management and volatility remain central considerations.
