The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed September 2 with another strong session, extending the rebound established at the start of the month. Gains were broad across large-cap, mid-cap, banking and smaller-company benchmarks, while elevated turnover indicated substantial participation as investors continued to favor equities.

Broad-Based Buying Pushes Major Indices Higher

The Tel Aviv-35 advanced 1.30% to 4,201.89 points, with 28 securities rising against eight declining securities. The benchmark’s move pushed it firmly above the 4,200-point level and represented a meaningful acceleration from its 0.22% gain in the previous session.

The broader Tel Aviv-125 also strengthened, climbing 1.34% to 4,138.86 points. Market breadth was particularly constructive, with 101 advancing securities versus only 23 decliners. The Tel Aviv-90 performed even better, rising 1.55% to 3,954.33 points, supported by 73 advancing securities and 15 declining securities.

The figures point to participation well beyond the largest companies. The Tel Aviv-SME60 gained 1.96% to 1,374.69, demonstrating that smaller companies also benefited from the improved market tone.

Banks and Sector-Balance Stocks Add to Momentum

Financial shares remained an important contributor to the rally. The Tel Aviv-90 and Banks index rose 1.70% to 4,158.68 points, with 78 securities advancing and only 15 declining. The performance suggests continued strength across financial stocks as the broader market recovery gains traction.

The Tel Aviv-200 climbed 1.45% to 4,095.42 points, while the Tel Aviv Sector-Balance index gained 1.36% to 4,794.17. The Tel Aviv-20 advanced 1.56% to 4,067.58, with 18 gainers compared with only two decliners.

This breadth reinforces the impression that the session was not simply driven by a small number of heavily weighted stocks. Instead, buying extended across multiple segments of the exchange, creating a stronger foundation for the latest market advance.

Strong Turnover Highlights Investor Participation

Trading activity remained elevated. Total stock-market turnover reached approximately NIS 5.116 billion, while bond-market turnover totaled approximately NIS 4.869 billion. Tel Aviv-125 turnover alone reached NIS 3.834 billion, while Tel Aviv-200 turnover approached NIS 3.904 billion.

Individual stocks continued to experience significant volatility. Ampa was the strongest notable mover within the Tel Aviv-125, gaining 10.16%, while Palo Alto declined 8.39%. These sharp moves highlight the continued dispersion underneath the broad index gains and suggest that company-specific developments remain an important driver of individual performance.

The September rally is now becoming more significant after the market’s weakness at the end of August. Investors will be watching whether the TA-35 can sustain levels above 4,200 while the TA-90 continues its push toward 4,000. Continued strong breadth, healthy turnover and participation from banks and smaller companies would strengthen the case for further upside, while a sudden deterioration in market breadth or trading volume could signal that momentum is beginning to fade. Volatility in individual constituents also remains a risk, making sector and company-level performance important to monitor as the Israeli market moves through the next trading sessions.
