MongoDB delivered a stronger fiscal second quarter as enterprise demand for cloud databases and emerging AI workloads continued to support growth. The September 1 results come as global technology markets increasingly focus on whether AI-related spending can translate into sustained revenue acceleration and improving profitability beyond the initial infrastructure cycle.

MongoDB Revenue Growth Reaches 30%

MongoDB generated $771.8 million in revenue for the quarter ended July 31, 2026, an increase of 30% from $591.4 million a year earlier. Subscription revenue rose 31% to $747.1 million, while services revenue increased 29% to $24.6 million.

Atlas-related revenue reached $565.9 million, representing approximately 73% of total quarterly revenue. Atlas growth remained strong at about 29% year over year, while MongoDB Enterprise Advanced and other revenue increased approximately 36%. The results point to continued demand for MongoDB across both cloud and self-managed environments.

Remaining performance obligations also strengthened considerably, reaching $1.52 billion, up 91% year over year. Current remaining performance obligations increased 73%, providing additional visibility into contracted future revenue.

Profitability and Cash Flow Strengthen

MongoDB’s improving financial profile was another major feature of the quarter. GAAP operating income reached $28.4 million, compared with an operating loss of $65.3 million in the year-ago period. GAAP net income was $40.9 million, or $0.50 per diluted share, compared with a net loss of $47.0 million, or $0.58 per share, a year earlier.

On a non-GAAP basis, net income increased to $162.6 million, or $1.90 per diluted share, compared with $87.2 million, or $1.00 per share, in the prior-year quarter. Non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 24% from 15%.

Cash generation also improved sharply. Operating cash flow reached $141.9 million, compared with $72.1 million a year earlier, while free cash flow increased to $137.6 million from $69.9 million. MongoDB ended the quarter with approximately $2.4 billion in cash, cash equivalents, short-term investments and restricted cash.

Higher Guidance Puts AI Strategy Under the Microscope

MongoDB raised its fiscal 2027 revenue forecast to between $2.99 billion and $3.03 billion. The company expects non-GAAP earnings per share of $6.39 to $6.58 for the full fiscal year. For the fiscal third quarter, revenue is projected at $756 million to $761 million, with non-GAAP earnings per share of $1.57 to $1.61.

The company is increasingly positioning its database platform around AI applications, including retrieval, vector search and tools that allow AI agents to access operational data. New capabilities across Atlas and Enterprise Advanced are intended to strengthen MongoDB’s role as enterprises build AI applications that require real-time access to business information.

However, the strong results also raise the bar for future performance. Atlas growth of approximately 29% remains substantial, but investors will likely monitor whether AI adoption eventually accelerates that rate or primarily reinforces existing demand.

MongoDB enters the next quarter with stronger margins, substantial cash generation and a higher full-year outlook. The key variables to watch will be Atlas growth, enterprise spending, the conversion of AI experimentation into production workloads and the company’s ability to maintain operating leverage as it invests in its position within the rapidly expanding AI software ecosystem.
