Boeing has secured a major US defense contract with a ceiling value of $131.23 billion for the F-15 Eagle Crest program, providing a potentially significant long-term source of business for the aerospace and defense group. The award comes as governments continue increasing defense spending and modernizing military fleets, creating a more supportive environment for major defense contractors despite uncertainty across Boeing’s commercial aviation operations.
Boeing Secures Major F-15 Eagle Crest Agreement
The US Department of War awarded Boeing an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, or IDIQ, contract to support the F-15 Eagle Crest program. The agreement covers aircraft production, systems integration, modernization, upgrades, retrofits and sustainment, as well as the establishment of organic depot maintenance capabilities.
The contract has a ceiling value of $131.23 billion, but the figure represents the maximum potential value rather than an immediate $131.23 billion order or guaranteed revenue commitment. Under the IDIQ structure, specific orders can be placed over the life of the agreement according to military requirements and available funding.
Work will be performed in St. Louis, Missouri, and is expected to continue through August 2037. The ordering period is scheduled to run through August 24, 2031, with an option to extend it through August 24, 2036.
F-15 Program Extends Boeing’s Defense Growth Opportunities
The award provides Boeing with a long-duration framework covering multiple stages of the F-15 program rather than a single aircraft delivery order. This includes maintaining existing aircraft, integrating new systems and capabilities, and supporting future modernization requirements.
The F-15 remains an important component of several air forces, while the F-15EX represents the latest evolution of the platform. Continued investment in the program provides Boeing with opportunities to generate revenue from both new aircraft and the long-term support infrastructure required to keep existing fleets operational.
The contract also reflects the broader shift toward higher defense spending in the United States and among its allies. For Boeing, its defense, space and security operations provide an important counterbalance to challenges affecting its commercial aircraft business.
International Sales Could Expand the Contract’s Reach
An important component of the agreement is its inclusion of Foreign Military Sales involving Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Poland. The participation of multiple international customers could expand the potential demand for F-15 aircraft, modernization and support services over the duration of the program.
For Israel in particular, the inclusion highlights the continuing role of US defense contractors in supporting the country’s military capabilities. For Boeing, international F-15 demand can provide additional opportunities beyond US government procurement while strengthening the company’s relationships with allied defense markets.
Investors will nevertheless need to distinguish between the contract’s headline ceiling and actual orders, as future revenue will depend on individual task orders, funding allocations and customer requirements. Going forward, attention will focus on the pace of new orders, F-15 production, international sales and Boeing’s ability to execute the program efficiently. The long-term contract provides greater visibility into potential defense activity, but its ultimate financial contribution will depend on how much of the $131.23 billion ceiling is actually exercised through future orders.
