Israeli equities ended Thursday, August 6, with modest gains as investors cautiously returned to the market following the previous day’s losses. Most of the major stock indexes finished higher, although advancing and declining stocks remained relatively balanced, suggesting that investors were selective rather than broadly optimistic.

Trading activity was exceptionally strong during the session, with stock market turnover climbing to more than NIS 16.1 billion, one of the highest levels recorded in recent weeks, indicating elevated institutional participation.

Large-Cap Stocks Lead a Modest Recovery

The TA-35 Index rose 0.27% to close at 4,128.46 points. Market breadth remained mixed, with 16 advancing constituents, 18 declining, and one unchanged, indicating that gains were concentrated among several heavyweight stocks.

The broader TA-125 Index gained 0.23% to finish at 4,032.47 points. Advancing securities totaled 58 compared with 63 decliners, while four remained unchanged. Despite slightly more declining stocks than gainers, stronger performance from larger-cap companies lifted the benchmark into positive territory.

Stock market turnover reached approximately NIS 16.12 billion, more than triple the previous session’s volume, highlighting unusually active trading across the Israeli market.

The combination of higher turnover and modest index gains suggests investors remained engaged despite maintaining a cautious stance.

Mid-Caps and Sector Indexes Post Limited Gains

Performance across the broader market was generally positive but restrained.

The TA-90 Index edged up 0.09% to close at 3,735.44 points. Market breadth was nearly balanced, with 42 advancing securities compared with 45 decliners and three unchanged issues.

The TA-90 and Banks Index gained 0.38% to finish at 3,919.85 points. Advancers and decliners were evenly split at 46 each, suggesting that strength among selected banking shares helped support the index.

The TA-125 Value Index rose 0.07% to close at 4,044.95 points. Market breadth was almost evenly divided, with 27 gainers and 28 decliners, reflecting a largely neutral trading environment.

The Tel Aviv Sector-Balance Index increased 0.26% to 4,582.38 points. Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners by 53 to 43, indicating modestly positive participation across multiple sectors.

Overall, the session reflected a cautious recovery rather than a broad-based rally, with selective buying supporting the major benchmarks.

Bond Market Continues to Show Stability

Israel’s fixed-income market remained resilient, extending its recent pattern of steady gains.

The All-Bond General Index advanced 0.08% to close at 432.94 points. Market breadth remained favorable, with 420 advancing bond issues compared with 123 decliners.

The Short-Term Bond Index rose 0.01% to finish at 477.46 points, continuing its gradual upward trend.

Corporate bonds also posted gains. The Tel Bond-Adjoined A Index increased 0.03% to 439.17 points, while the Tel Bond 60 Adjacent Index gained 0.06% to close at 429.21 points.

Bond market turnover totaled approximately NIS 2.36 billion, lower than equity trading but reflecting continued participation in fixed-income securities.

Market Outlook

Thursday’s session demonstrated that investors remain willing to selectively add exposure to Israeli equities, particularly large-cap shares, while maintaining a cautious approach toward the broader market. The sharp increase in trading volume suggests heightened institutional activity, although mixed market breadth indicates confidence has yet to broaden across all sectors. Investors will continue monitoring corporate earnings, economic data, global monetary policy, and geopolitical developments for direction. Sustained improvement in market breadth alongside continued gains in large-cap and financial shares would strengthen the outlook for Israeli equities in the sessions ahead.
