Robinhood Markets emerged as one of the strongest performers in U.S. equities on August 21, with shares rising 13.7% to approximately $108, according to market data reported that day. The move came as investors reassessed the fintech platform’s growth prospects following its second-quarter results, renewed analyst support and a broader rally across crypto-linked financial stocks.

Analyst Targets Reinforce the Reassessment of Robinhood

The latest rally followed a series of constructive analyst actions. Bank of America raised its Robinhood price target to $140 from $132 after the company’s second-quarter results, citing strong organic growth and robust retail activity. Bernstein has maintained a substantially higher $160 target, arguing that Robinhood is positioned to benefit from emerging financial markets including prediction contracts, perpetual futures and tokenized equities.

The significance extends beyond the individual price targets. Robinhood has increasingly been repositioning itself from a retail brokerage centered on stocks and cryptocurrencies toward a broader financial platform. That expansion gives the company additional potential revenue streams while reducing its dependence on any single trading category.

Prediction Markets Are Reshaping the Revenue Mix

Robinhood’s second-quarter results provided evidence of that diversification. Revenue increased 32% year over year to a record $1.31 billion, while transaction-based revenue climbed 44% to $776 million. Event-contract revenue reached $156 million, more than ten times the year-earlier level, while cryptocurrency revenue declined 38% to $100 million.

The shift is particularly important because prediction markets have moved from a niche product toward a meaningful component of Robinhood’s business. The company reported 13.6 billion event contracts traded during the quarter, up more than tenfold year over year. Its Rothera exchange, launched as part of the company’s expansion into regulated event-contract infrastructure, has also become an increasingly significant part of that strategy.

Bernstein expects prediction-market revenue to expand at a 64% compound annual rate through 2028, potentially reaching $1.7 billion. While that represents an analyst forecast rather than company guidance, it illustrates why Wall Street is increasingly treating the business as a structural growth opportunity rather than simply another trading feature.

Tokenization and Crypto Keep Robinhood Tied to the Next Market Cycle

Robinhood is also expanding its role in digital-asset infrastructure. During the second quarter, the company introduced Robinhood Chain, expanded tokenized stock availability and continued developing products around blockchain-based financial services. The company said its tokenized stocks were available to eligible users in more than 120 countries, while its international funded customer base surpassed one million.

That strategy could become increasingly relevant as financial institutions explore tokenized securities and blockchain settlement. At the same time, Robinhood’s second-quarter figures demonstrate the volatility of the underlying businesses: crypto revenue fell sharply even as equities, options and prediction markets strengthened. The diversification therefore provides an important counterweight, but it does not eliminate exposure to changes in retail trading activity or digital-asset sentiment.

Going forward, investors will be watching whether Robinhood can convert the recent expansion in prediction markets, tokenized assets and other financial products into recurring revenue while maintaining disciplined costs and regulatory compliance. The company’s ability to broaden its revenue base without becoming overly dependent on periods of elevated market activity will be central to determining whether the latest share-price rally represents a short-term repricing or a broader reassessment of Robinhood’s long-term business model.
