Key Points
- CEVA is expected to report second-quarter earnings of $0.073 per share on $28.15 million in revenue, representing sequential improvement and nearly 10% year-over-year revenue growth.
- Analysts see 2026 as a transition year, with licensing wins expected to translate into a potentially significant royalty revenue inflection in 2027.
- CEVA's stock has more than doubled from its 52-week low, while the $50 consensus price target implies about 29% upside, though valuation concerns remain.
CEVA Inc. is preparing to report its second-quarter results before the market opens Monday, with investors focused less on near-term earnings and more on whether the semiconductor intellectual property licensor is building momentum toward a potentially stronger royalty business in 2027.
Wall Street expects CEVA to report earnings of approximately $0.073 per share on revenue of $28.15 million for the quarter ended June. That would represent an 82% increase in earnings from the previous quarter’s $0.04 per share and a 4% increase in revenue from $27 million. Revenue would also be nearly 10% higher than the year-ago period.
Analysts Remain Constructive
Analysts currently maintain a generally positive view of CEVA, with a consensus rating of Buy and an average price target of approximately $50. That target represents roughly 29% potential upside from the stock’s stated price of $35.59.
Seven of nine analysts covering the company recommend buying the shares, while two maintain Hold ratings. Earnings estimates have also edged higher, with consensus EPS forecasts increasing 0.38% over the past 60 days and revenue estimates rising 0.12%.
However, the stock’s substantial recovery has introduced a valuation debate. CEVA has more than doubled from its 52-week low of $17.02 but remains below its earlier high of $51.60. Benchmark analyst Gary Mo initiated coverage with a Hold rating in July, citing valuation concerns despite the company’s constructive fundamentals.
Licensing Momentum Is the Key Focus
The central issue for investors is whether CEVA can maintain licensing momentum while previous design wins gradually transition into royalty-generating products.
The company signed 14 IP licensing agreements in the first quarter spanning connectivity, artificial intelligence, and satellite communications. Among the notable agreements was a Bluetooth High Data Throughput win, reflecting CEVA’s push toward integrated system-level platforms rather than individual component intellectual property.
Investors will therefore be watching the number and quality of new licensing agreements, as well as average contract values, for evidence that the momentum continued during the second quarter.
2027 Could Mark a Royalty Turning Point
CEVA’s longer-term investment case centers on the potential conversion of recent licensing wins into recurring royalty revenue.
Analysts have characterized 2026 as a transition period, with 2027 potentially becoming the point when earlier design wins begin making a more meaningful contribution to royalties. CEVA has said that Bluetooth 6.0 designs are entering production at multiple customers, with royalty revenue beginning to ramp.
The pace of that royalty increase could ultimately be more important to investors than the company’s second-quarter earnings figure itself.
AI Expansion Adds Another Growth Opportunity
CEVA is also expanding beyond traditional connectivity applications as demand grows for edge AI and increasingly data-intensive devices.
The company announced a major AI licensing agreement with a large U.S. software platform company in early July. The agreement provides additional evidence that CEVA’s intellectual property is gaining traction in edge AI processor applications.
The broader transition toward connected devices, edge computing, and AI-enabled infrastructure could create additional licensing opportunities, although the financial contribution from these agreements will depend on how quickly customers move from design stages into commercial production.
Closing Insights
CEVA enters its second-quarter report at an important stage in its growth cycle. The expected improvement in earnings and revenue would demonstrate near-term progress, but investors are likely to place greater emphasis on licensing activity, production ramps, and management’s commentary regarding future royalty revenue. With 2026 positioned as a transition year and 2027 viewed as a potential royalty inflection point, the upcoming results could provide an important indication of whether CEVA’s recent stock rally is supported by sustainable earnings growth or has moved ahead of the company’s underlying financial performance.
