Key Points
- ACM Research is expected to report second-quarter revenue growth of 24.5%, supported by strong demand for advanced packaging, electrochemical plating (ECP), and semiconductor cleaning equipment.
- Higher research and development spending and softer margins are expected to weigh on earnings, with analysts forecasting a 44.4% year-over-year decline in earnings per share.
- With a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) and an Earnings ESP of 0.00%, current indicators do not point to a clear earnings beat ahead of the Aug. 7 earnings release.
ACM Research (NASDAQ: ACMR) is scheduled to report its second-quarter 2026 financial results before the market opens on Aug. 7, with investors closely watching whether continued demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment can offset rising operating costs and margin pressure.
Wall Street expects ACM Research to report earnings of $0.30 per share, representing a 44.4% decline from the same quarter a year ago. Revenue is projected to reach approximately $268.2 million, reflecting year-over-year growth of 24.5%.
The company has produced mixed earnings performance in recent quarters, beating analyst expectations twice and missing estimates twice over the past four reporting periods.
Semiconductor Equipment Demand Remains Strong
ACM Research continues to benefit from robust investment across the semiconductor industry, particularly in advanced packaging technologies that support artificial intelligence, high-bandwidth memory (HBM), and next-generation chip manufacturing.
Demand for the company’s electrochemical plating (ECP) systems has remained strong as semiconductor manufacturers expand production of advanced packaging and 2.5D chip architectures. During the first quarter of 2026, revenue generated from ECP, furnace, and related technologies increased 205% year over year to $84.2 million.
The company is also seeing growing adoption of advanced packaging equipment, including coaters, developers, wet etchers, strippers, and cleaning systems. Customer evaluations of ACM Research’s panel-level horizontal plating platform are expected to support future production orders.
Cleaning Business Continues to Improve
Another growth driver has been ACM Research’s cleaning equipment business.
During the first quarter, shipments of cleaning tools increased 32% year over year as technical issues affecting newer cleaning applications were largely resolved.
Management also continues to ramp production of its single-wafer sulfuric peroxide mixture (SPM) cleaning systems and expects to deliver between 15 and 20 units during 2026.
Additional contributions from the company’s Tahoe platform, vertical furnace products, and newer semiconductor processing technologies are expected to support revenue growth throughout the year.
Higher Costs Could Limit Profit Growth
Despite healthy demand, profitability remains under pressure as ACM Research continues investing heavily in product development and global expansion.
Management expects research and development expenses to represent between 16% and 18% of revenue during 2026, compared with 15% in the first quarter.
Operating expenses increased 38.5% year over year during the first quarter, reflecting increased investment in research, sales expansion, and international operations.
Those higher costs contributed to operating margin declining to 18.1% from 20.7% a year earlier.
Gross margin also softened to 46.5% from 48.2%, with management noting that changing product mix can create quarterly fluctuations as newer product categories continue to scale.
Earnings Outlook
According to the Zacks Earnings ESP model, ACM Research currently does not exhibit the combination typically associated with a likely earnings beat.
The company carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) while its Earnings ESP stands at 0.00%, providing no statistical indication that earnings will outperform consensus estimates.
By comparison, Zacks identifies several semiconductor companies with stronger earnings indicators this reporting season, including Lumentum, Analog Devices, and Applied Materials, each of which currently holds a favorable Earnings ESP combined with a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
Investor Perspective
Investors will likely focus on whether ACM Research can maintain strong order momentum in advanced packaging and semiconductor cleaning equipment while demonstrating improving margins despite elevated investment spending.
Management’s outlook for demand from AI-related semiconductor manufacturing, customer adoption of newer platforms, and updates on profitability will likely be the primary catalysts influencing the stock following earnings.

Closing Insights
ACM Research enters its second-quarter earnings report with solid revenue momentum driven by AI-related semiconductor investment and growing demand for advanced manufacturing equipment. However, expanding research spending and softer margins remain key challenges that could limit near-term earnings growth. As semiconductor manufacturers continue investing in advanced packaging and next-generation fabrication technologies, investors will be watching whether ACM Research can convert strong industry demand into sustained profitability over the coming quarters.
