The R2 Premium variant is scheduled to launch in late 2026 with a starting price of $53,990. This version will also feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup but with slightly lower performance metrics, including 450 horsepower and a 0–60 mph time of around 4.6 seconds. Despite the reduced power, Rivian estimates the Premium model will match the Performance trim’s 330-mile range. The company plans to introduce the Standard trim later, beginning with a $48,490 version in early 2027 featuring a single rear-mounted motor and an estimated range of up to 345 miles.

Entry-Level Model Targets Wider Consumer Adoption

The most affordable R2 variant, expected to start near $45,000, will arrive later in 2027 and is likely to feature a smaller battery pack delivering more than 265 miles of driving range. Rivian hopes this version will significantly broaden the vehicle’s appeal among mainstream EV buyers. However, the delayed timeline means the company will initially compete with Tesla’s Model Y, which currently starts at approximately $39,990 in the United States.
